What are you Reading Now?

I am reading a book titled, "What is the What" by Dave Eggers. It is a novel based on the true story of one of the Lost Boys of Sudan and his survival. I really enjoy this book, though the struggles this man went through as a child are unfathomable. There is an especially stunning piece in the story where the main character has been tied up in his home in Atlanta and is telling his story of his treacherous journey fleeing the war in Sudan. Only he is not telling the story out loud, it is ruminating in his mind---and he is intended audience is a young boy who has been assigned to be his guard until the robbers return for more stuff. He says, "When I first came to this country, I would tell silent stories. I would tell them to people who had wronged me.... You do not understand, I would tell them. You would not add to my suffering if you knew what I have seen." It is a thought to chew on--many refugees have come to our country against incredible odds and have to adjust to a life that is completely opposite, strange, and new. Do we consider what they have been through when we interact with them?

I'd like to hear what everyone else is reading these days!!

Hi Nowalks!

I'm currently re-reading Tokien's masterpieces. I've finished "The Hobbitt" and am now two-thirds of the way done with "The Fellowship of the Ring".

I think my next reads will be Jane Austin's novels. Have never read them. They were some of Becky's favorites and I have recently picked up two DVDs entitled 'The Jane Austin Book Club' and 'Becoming Jane'.

Does this mean I have to resign my MCP membership?
